Billing Specialist (Charge Entry) - Greenville, SC (Hybrid)
MedBridge Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Specialist with a primary focus on charge entry to join our growing team in Greenville, SC. This full-time role is ideal for candidates with 1–2 years of medical billing experience and a strong background in charge entry, coding, and claims management. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of EOBs, insurance guidelines, and medical coding, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining compliance with federal regulations. This is a hybrid position with an in-office schedule of 2-3 days per week.
At MedBridge, we provide comprehensive sleep disorder services by partnering with hospitals and physician practices to deliver fully-integrated solutions for patient testing, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurately review and enter all charges into the billing system, ensuring correct coding and documentation.
- Verify patient and insurance information to ensure accurate and timely billing.
- Resolve any coding or documentation discrepancies with healthcare providers to avoid delays in reimbursement.
- Work closely with the billing team to ensure the smooth flow of charge entry processes.
- Stay updated on the latest coding guidelines and regulations to maintain compliance.
- Identify and report any billing errors or issues to the appropriate parties for resolution.
- Maintain an organized and efficient system for tracking and managing charge entry tasks.
- Assist with other billing tasks as needed, including claims processing and reconciliation.
- Review outstanding insurance claims and contact carriers for resolution prior to patient billing
- Interpret and understand Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
- Contact patients for updated insurance information as needed
- Update and re-bill claims as appropriate; review and appeal rejected claims
- Process necessary adjustments, refund requests, and account revisions
- Work with payers to file and follow up on appeals, denials, and zero-pay claims
- Handle claims across all payors, including commercial and government insurance
- Make outbound calls to address account issues and updates
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information
- Follow medical and insurance claim protocols to support accurate billing and financial close processes
- Perform collections research and recommend actions as needed
- Adhere to company attendance and punctuality policies
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- 1-2 experience in medical charge entry and billing procedures
- Proficiency in medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
- Strong knowledge of insurance guidelines, reimbursement processes, and healthcare terminology
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in using medical billing software and MS Office applications
- Hybrid Position (2-3 days in office weekly)
